Combining advanced NVIDIA integrated graphics technology along with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, the 13-inch Apple MacBook Pro is faster than ever and will keep you working longer away from power cords with an enhanced battery life of up to 10 hours of battery life. As with previous models, the new MacBook Pro features a precision unibody enclosure crafted from a single block of aluminum, creating a thin and light mobile computing workhorse (less than 1 inch thin and just 4.5 pounds) that's also highly durable. And it includes a 13.3-inch, LED-backlit glass display (instead of an LCD panel) as well as a glass trackpad that doesn't include a button (for larger tracking area) that features Apple's Multi-Touch technology.

Key Features
![]() The Intel Core 2 Duo processor and NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics are a great match for Apple's iMovie. |
A New Standard for Performance and Portability
The new 13-inch MacBook Pro features advanced NVIDIA integrated graphics technology along with a faster Intel Core 2 Duo processor. That makes for the ultimate combination of performance, portability, and battery life--up to 10 hours--without adding an ounce to the slimmest, lightest MacBook Pro.With the 1066 MHz frontside bus and 3 MB of shared L2 cache of the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, all your applications will run faster and more efficiently than you thought possible. The 13-inch MacBook Pro also features the new NVIDIA GeForce 320M integrated graphics processor with 48 processing cores--three times as many as before. This results in a huge difference when using 3D games and graphics-intensive applications. And when you're not, you'll benefit from a new energy-efficient architecture that uses up to 40 percent less power for everyday tasks like writing email and surfing the web.
![]() The beginning of every MacBook Pro--a precisely machined, single block of aluminum. |
Unibody Design
Traditionally, notebooks are made from multiple parts. With the MacBook Pro all of those parts with just one part--the breakthrough unibody enclosure. Every MacBook Pro starts its life as a single block of aluminum, which is precisely machined into the basic unibody design. Another pass and the unibody takes shape. Another, and the integrated keyboard emerges. When you pick up a new MacBook Pro, you immediately notice the entire enclosure is thinner and lighter. And it feels strong and durable--perfect for life inside (and outside) your briefcase or backpack.LED-Backlit Display
LCD displays typically use cold cathode fluorescent lamps, or CCFLs, to create light and project a picture onto a screen, and this creates two problems--the lamps require more space and they take more time to warm up to full brightness. The MacBook Pro uses LED backlight technology to create the same amount of brightness in less space. And unlike fluorescent lamps, an LED backlight reaches maximum brightness instantly. Finally, a new, smaller iSight camera is concealed behind the display for quick access to video chats and snapping pics for uploading to social networks.
![]() The entire trackpad is the button, so you can click anywhere. |
Buttonless Multi-Touch Trackpad
With no button on the durable glass trackpad, there's more room to track and click--left, right, center, and everywhere in between. Without a separate button, the spacious trackpad gives your hands plenty of room to move on the large, silky glass surface. It also incorporates Multi-Touch gestures--including swipe, pinch, rotate, and four-finger swipe--and even more natural inertial scrolling--an intuitive way to scroll through large photo libraries, lengthy documents and long web sites. If you're coming from a right-click world, you can right-click with two fingers or configure a right-click area on the trackpad.![]() |
Long-Lasting Battery
The new energy-efficient architecture in every MacBook Pro, along with automatic graphics switching, gives you dramatically longer battery life. On a single charge, the battery in the new 13-inch MacBook Pro lasts up to 10 hours. And you'll get up to 1000 full charge and discharge cycles--that's nearly three times the lifespan of typical notebook batteries. Advanced chemistry and Adaptive Charging allow the battery to maintain charging capabilities longer and determine the optimal way to charge the battery's cells. Because the battery lasts up to five years, MacBook Pro uses just one battery in the same time a typical notebook uses three. That makes for less waste. And that, in turn, makes for one environmentally friendly battery.Environmental Considerations
![]() |
Because Apple makes both the hardware and the software for the MacBook, they're designed to work together to produce a smarter product that uses less electricity. For instance, to reduce energy consumption, the hard drive spins down automatically when inactive. MacBook Air also decides which processor--CPU or GPU--is best suited to efficiently perform a task. The LED-backlit display in the MacBook Pro is another feature that plays an important part in conserving energy, consuming 30 percent less power than conventional LCD displays. And the display is designed to dim when you enter a darkened room.
The MacBook Pro meets the stringent low power requirements set by the EPA, giving it ENERGY STAR qualification. ENERGY STAR 5.0 sets significantly higher efficiency limits for power supplies and aggressive limits for the computer's typical annual power consumption.
Also, every MacBook Pro model has earned the highest rating of EPEAT Gold. The Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool, or EPEAT, evaluates the environmental impact of a product based on how recyclable it is, how much energy it uses, and how it's designed and manufactured.

My credit card was cleared for payment on August 28th. Today is September 4th, the Friday of the holiday weekend. My computer that I want to purchase from this vendor has not been shipped. I can't cancel it at this time because is is "shipping soon". I wrote Amazon about my frustration with this vendor. They said vendors are required to ship promptly when they receive payment. Here's the rub. This vendor has not bothered to "accept" my payment, so they haven't officially charged me for it yet. Therefore, they don't have to ship is until they accept payment.....who knows when that will be.
I wrote 2 emails asking about the status. On August 31st they said they would ship the computer as soon as my charge card cleared..i.e. ASAP. I was confused because that card has no balance. I called the credit card company, and they assured me the charge had been cleared on August 28th. So they lied to me about my card . Amazon has backed me up....the credit card has been cleared. The vendor just can't seem to get around to customer service.
Today, September 3rd, is the first day of the arrival window. If they don't send the computer, then I have to wait until the 26th to file a claim. If I get it after the 23rd, I will file a claim.
Lesson learned......If you're in a time crunch NEVER BUY FROM THIS VENDOR. I would have rather paid the extra $50 to another vendor for the same product.
I would like to say that I love my computer, but darn it......I don't have it, and it doesn't look like this vendor is in any hurry.
I won't make this mistake again. So very angry.

I've had this laptop about a month and I have to say that there is nothing about it that doesn't impress me. As many feel, I basically wonder why I waited so long to make the switch. The learning curve was virtually painless. Couldn't be more pleased with my purchase.

I had a dell inspiron (windows xp) for the last four years or so. I had used the family pc before that. My laptop was good at first. After about a year though it got a virus which caused me to lose everything and then have to start the computer from scratch. This happened two more times within the next two years. It was completely annoying. The computer itself was bulky and would get really hot. I had to replace the battery a few times and the actual computer rarely lasted for more than an hour without being plugged into the wall. I had had enough so when considering a laptop for college I looked up macbooks. I went to the apple store learned a bit about it and decided to buy the 13inch macbook pro. I cold not be more happy. The computer is small and light. The design is sleek and the computer doesn't get really hot. I like how the applications are set up because it feels less cluttered. Also, they're easy to use and if I don't understand how to use something apple has plenty of tools to help me understand. I can charge the computer and then it will last for two days without me needing to charge it again. What's even better is that the battery isn't being used if you are not using the computer. The computer runs beautifully and overall I am really happy with the purchase. I am definitely never going back to a pc!

I've been a PC guy forever but I needed to buy a Mac specifically for college and boy am I impressed!! I will remain a PC person because I love building computers from scratch and use them for gaming, web browsing and for other light programs but for my college required programs such as Adobe Photoshop CS5 and Illustrator CS5, Etc. I will NOT use anything else but a Mac! I just runs everything alot smoother.

I received a call on 8/27 at 806 am that I was to stay home and wait till 7 pm for my new Macbook to be delivered....at 645 pm the Amazon order screen read that it was NOT coming as UPS screwed up and sent it to Ontario at 454 PM today instead of arriving at the Palm Springs facility. I am now expected (in this economy) to stay home ANOTHER entire day to be able to sign for my beloved Macbook Pro this Monday. The UPS $35 an hour teamsters have now cost me $500 to stay home and have to reschedule two days business! THANK YOU UPS for taking nearly HALF the cost of my computer for YOUR screw up. Not to mention the countless items I have had to return to Amazon because UPS breaks them!!! UPS is NOT cost effective to anyone. Amazon was kind enough to give me a small token of sorrow a $10 gift card. My advice ~ see if you can get it shipped another way so you are not one of the UNLUCKY ones unlike a few here with NO issue on delivery. Can you tell I am a little PEEVED about this!
In regards to the MacBook Pro ~ You will NEVER want another computer again (this is my second)! They are the cream of the crop for a reason ~ they WORK!
